Warwick Proline 5 vs. Upgrading MIA Jazz V

I own a Warwick Proline 5 and a Fender style Lakland Joe Osborne 5. I love both for different reasons. I like the old school look and tone of the Lakland (Fralin pups) and I like the updated sound of the Warwick. The 2 piece maple body doesn't seems to cut through with more mids than bass. It is also lighter than most Warwicks. I wouldn't sell either.
I do agree that they both feel very different. However, my opinion it is really only the necks feel different when playing. Warwick is chuncky and the Lakland is flat. The string spacing is also very different. The Warwick seems to have a smaller spacing. I don't find that the first fret feels that far away. This maybe based on the fact that the Lakland is 35" scale. Either way, good choice!!
If the proline is from 90s, it is a amazing bass, I use to have one, the neck was the best I ever tried and nice tone
Yeah I had an early Proline 6 (mine was serial #000014) and it was a lush bass. Had to sell it to appease the tax man one year. It was my first Warwick and it's the one bass I wish I hadn't let go.
Just out of curiosity how much was the proline? I just picked my lefty 5 string a couple of months back, since they don't pop up too often wanted to see if the prices were close.
It wound up not being a Proline. It's an active 2003 Corvette. German made. Because I don't know Warwicks, I initially believed what the salesman said. Asking $500.00
weird that he would mislead you like that...was it intentional? regardless, any german-made warwick is going to have the magic, and $500 still sounds like a decent price.
Thanks! How do you like it? I bought mine for a back up to my SR5, Its slowly becoming my main player. Guess looks don't really matter.
I don't think he meant to mislead me, just not very knowledgeable about the product. I figured it out before I decided to buy it. To confuse things even more, I played a 5 string bongo bass yesterday. What a beast! Now I want them both. May still upgrade the MIA Jazz V.
They are both good-sounding basses but bear in mind you'll be able to play the Warwick in public.
