warwick streamer rockbass adjustments

i just got a warwick rockbass and the distance from the strings to the fretboard is pretty far (like a 1/4 inch at the highest frets) and i dont like it that way. Would i be able to adjust it to the way i want by myslef or should i take it to a music store and have them set it up?
