Warwick tone, low weight

I played one of these this weekend and it was pretty light. I was surprised because every other wick I have ever played was a freaking tank.
I've also got an Ash Corvette $$ 5 and it's around the 9 range.
They are just a fantastic value if you can get one for a great price!

the lightest warwick is the Warwick Taranis. its extremely light. i have a 5er, its lighter than my washburn N2 guitar. it has a set of david king knobs which make it even lighter and if i wanna shave some weight i can replace the tuners with ultralites shaves of 200grams.
Mindrange growl= heavy woods.
You can make a custom bass, replacing the woods for other lighter that can sustitute that heavy woods.
Something like basswood body with wengue neck and fingerboard would be fine i think.

Corvette Fretless and a Thumb BO, both made in Germany and both with wenge necks.
I'm curious, Brendan...how do you feel the sound differs between the two? I have a bubinga Corvette and I love it dearly, but it is HEAVY, and like the OP, my shoulders and back are not in the greatest shape.
You can always go the custom route.
Here's a Stambaugh five string that was built with a solid bubinga body, bubinga/wenge neck and ebony fingerboard that weighs in at just under 9 lbs.
If it's the Thumb sound you're after, I think a set of EMG jazzes set up in the right positions and with an Aguilar OBP-3 will get you most of the way there regardless of the woods used. Still, if you can get the same woods in a lighter package, why not?

I think you already know the answer. Streamer Stage I. Mid to late eighties- early nineties. It meets all your criteria. Price particularly, as you can usually get one for 12 to 16 hundred.
