Double Bass warwick upright

I played one a few times in a store - very nice, but in Australia it was $5000 - out of my league for someting that's not going to be my main instrument.
It was well made, attractive woods, good range of sounds, very playable neck. Being a reissue of a 50's design, it's bulkier than necessary. Noting wrong with the soinds but I've heard better.
I'm a big Warwick fan (I play a Thumb NT) but I think there are more contemporary EUB designs that are cheaper and have superior sound..
