As forum moderators have advised me that I should be documenting the progress of my bass building one bass per thread, this is now the thread to check for the build progress on the Black & White Ebony bass 08B021.

In the photo below we are busy cutting our recesses for the pickups on one of our CNC machines.

My jaw actually hit the space bar when I first saw that top in the last thread! I was unable to type as Id drooled all over the keys, the laptops only just recovered.

I cut out the pickup tops from the inlayed top plate before I cut the pickup recesses. This is a back view of one of the the almost finished pickup covers. I have a special wood hardening solution on the inside to stabilize the fairly thin wall thicknesses. That's why the color looks different.

Is that a full size CNC or is that one of the smaller bench top ones that I see in like Rockler and other places??

I have two CNCs - one is 39 x 24" and the other is 50 x 50"

What's the main body wood? The back is very pretty.

The main wood is Black and White Ebony - I believe it's often referred to as Pale Moon Ebony.
