Has anyone here tried weed whacker type strings? Obviously they would be better for slap, but can you get anything good pizz out of them?

Double Bass Weed Whackers?

The D and G strings aren't bad. The is A OK. The E is useless for Pizz. But, I only used them on 1 gig, and then put my gut strings back on. So, I really am not a good judge. I put them on just to hear what a set of strings that cost $20.00 would sound like.
Thanks - I'll search over there. I just thought strings would be the appropriate forum. Over the rockabilly and blue grass.
I saw these on Ebay for £14, just decided to buy a set, they may be rubbish, some forum members like them, other hate them, i figure for a poxy £14 i'd buy a set and at some point try them out myself. However just bought them today, (DOGHOUSE Weedwacker Double Bass Strings) so can't say if they good or not. At this price its worth an experiment 
Ok so i did a small trad jazz trio gig tonight playing banjo, with soprano sax and double bass. The weedwackers i'd pass on to the double bass player, he'd installed the low E and the G a few days before the gig and just had'nt got round to installing the A & D. He absolutely loved the sound of the weed wackers as did I! Even without his amp the sound was really big and full, even more so when he switched it on,the feel was great too, not spaggetti like as i've read on some forums but clearly much less tension than steel or even my La Bella Supernil strings. I got to say i really like these Weedwackers, they have a full deep sound. Why are'nt more bass players using them???
