Double Bass Weedwacker strings on an EUB?

Hey everyone
I don't know if this should be in the EUB section or the string section, so correct me if it's in the wrong category.
Has anyone tried a set of weedwackers (or something similar) on their EUBs? I know Helicores are supposed to be fantastic, but I want a more gut-like sound (without the actual gut) and wanted to know if it would work, especially with the pickup?

I have wacker-ish D and G strings on my EUB. They sound reasonably gut-like through the bridge wing pieze but are invisible to the magnetic pickup.

I was thinking about a full set on a stagg EUB (with a piezo pickup). Do you think that would work? How do you think it would sound? D'ya think slap would work on an EUB? Thanks for your advice

Yes, that would work. That's almost what I did with my Stagg. I keep looking to deaden the instrument so that it feels more like my double bass. I put on weed wacker D & G, but the E & A were too fat for my tastes, so I put on some too-old Evah Pirazzi E & A strings. I'm pretty happy with the result. (I prefer the double bass, the Stagg is for traveling. If I'm not on travel, the Stagg sits in the corner.)

Would slap work? Probably. You can get a nice thump on an EUB. A full set is really cheap, so why not try it?

I don't think it would work. D&G certainly, maybe the A too, but the E would just be a mess. At least on a real DB the low strings are moving air, but I can't see them sounding good on an EUB. There's no resonance to speak of on a solidbody bass strung with whackers, which you miss at low volume but not at stage volume. The attack and thump are fairly close, and slap isn't bad.
