Weird Amp noise

Hey all.

I got an Ashdown MAG300 head and when you turn it on its silent. Then after you play a note it starts shooting out bursts of staticy distortion about every second.

Its almost like clockwork. If I unplug the bass cable, it still keeps doing this.

Any ideas whats causing this?

I would say it's motorboating. Internal feedback usually via the power supply.

How do I fix this? This hasn't always been there and the bass amp has always been plugged into my trusty surge protector. Is it a bum power cable?

Not the AC supply but the DC supply of the actual amp. If you have a warranty use it otherwise take it to a tech.
