Weird buzz/ metallic noize from strings

Hi there,

I recently restrung and setup both my basses and I think I did a decent job at it. Both play good and have the action where I want it. The main difference is that one of the basses (fender deluxe p MIM ) produces this buzzing/metallic sound when pressing on a note that doesn't come through the amp but bugs me.
The bass in question got cobalts, the other ( squier matt friedman p bass ) hybrid slinkys.
Could it be the strings or am I missing something on the setup?
My other guess is the bridge is a vintage style fender should i change the saddles for the more modern ones?
Any help is appreciated .

I find that some strings make that sound more than others. Not necessarily a set-up issue. Nickel strings like the Hybrid Slinkys (same strings I use) are "quiet" compared to steels for example. I think the sound comes from the string hitting a fret.

Yeah I have noticed that the new cobalts have a very rough surface on them almost like pulling on fine grit sand paper. I like the tone coming from them put the buzz is problematic to me enough to switch them out. Got them because they were something new and had to try them out, hey now I know.

If its on all 4 strings or whatever, then its probably that type of string. Daddario XLs have a pretty noticeable sort of phantom jangle to them, for example.

If its on only one or two strings, that string may have been slightly twisted when strung up. Generally, my fix is to loosen it enough to slide back away from the saddle, then pull the string from the nut to the bridge, with a mind to try and keep it "straight" the whole way, then tighten it as you hold it by the bridge. Do that pull technique twice or so, before its totally tightened to the bridge, beyond tweaking with your fingers.

Yeah its all the strings . Tried what you said anyways but didn't work. Switched the strings out for hybrid slinkys and that fixed my problem.
I guess not everything new is better!!! So no more cobalts for me.
