Weird IEM question…

So, I’ve been an IEM user for about 10 years now. Lately I’ve been using Shure SE425’s and they’re fine for my uses. My question seems trivial but it’s driving me a bit nuts: The cable has a small slider that is intended to gently snug the cables against the back of my head, allowing the rest of the cable to go where it needs to. That slider thing no longer stays put and falls down the cable, allowing the right and left cables to catch on clothing, etc., and generally be annoying.

Has anyone come up with a better solution for this small but useful gadget?

Thanks!

You can re-friction a cable cinch using a short piece of 3:1 or 2:1 heat-shrink tubing large enough to slip over cable ssides and lightly shrink it so it grips but can still be moved with some force. Or you can use a tiny o-ring or silicone grommet (like ones used in vape pens), and slide one onto the cable to increase friction. Or use some cloth tape to hold it in place.

But it might just be easier to try eBay or Amazon for a replacement cable as @s0c9 mentioned, or maybe even cable-sliders if you get the right size.

I have exactly the same problem, and this is on an expensive after market cable. The small chrome ‘tube’ just slides back down the cable.

I thought of perhaps carefully crimping it to narrow the gap between it and the cable?

Ever see a draw string anchor, like on a wind breaker? There is spring loaded button when depressed opened the inside to fit the string inside when it released, it anchors wherever is is places. I have SE215’s that are not worn to that point, but when it fails, that is what I’d use.
