Double Bass Weird sound from KNA DB-1

Hey, guys. I've just recently started noticing some odd sounds/effects coming from my pickup and wanted to see whether anyone else has had a similar experience. It seems to be intermittent and, as far as I can tell after much experimentation, not really dependent on the setup of the pickup (e.g., orientation, pressure, bass vs. treble side, etc.). The sound can best be described as somewhat of a reverse echo where the bass also loses punch and the attack becomes less immediate.

Anyone else have this experience with this pickup? I've been careful to avoid putting too much pressure on the transducer because of the warnings in the instructions, but perhaps I've been too careful and this problem is caused by too little pressure? That's about the only thing I haven't tried, but I don't want to damage it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some insight!

If you already have the thin spruce sheets, try them.
I had a Shadow SH-950 (Underwood-clone) under a rather high pressure for years and it always sounded compressed. Nothing additionally in the wing.
Then years later, I took a fine file and made one or two very light strokes. Now the pickup just holds itself in place, but any touch at the cable turns or moves the pickup.
The sound is now free and better than I have imagined. Nothing to change or try now.
So, experiment. But if the pickup doesn‘t fit easily in the wing it is too much pressure.
BTW, hard wood, cork compressed cardboard and paper are good materials to experiment with. No adhesives, they are too soft and absorb vibrations.
