hi bass people! new guy here. I started playing when I was 8, dropped out of music school in a fit of apathy when I was 20, and hardly even looked at a bass for the next 8 years.
for some reason, though, I started practicing again this past summer, and have realized that yes, this is incredibly fun and yes, this beats the living crap out of any other career options I might have.
anyway, now I'm back at it, and really enjoying poking around these forums. strings have always confused the hell out of me, and I've already used the info here to find the right set for my acoustic-electric bg-- I wasn't gonna stumble across ground wound medium scale in my little neighborhood music store!
so I just wanted to say "hi" and "nice place you got here."
