my bdays coming up soon and im looking to buy a whammy pedal...im looking for tools the pot bass solo or john paul jones tidal solo....any recommendations?

Splitting hairs, but you can do the sounds with other stuff. Some better, but waaaaay more expensive.

Ef4, if you're looking at a Whammy for a specific tone, you'll probably be disappointed. It'll do pitch-shifting, chorus, and harmonies pretty well, though.

I don't have an expansive income. I just live in a box with lots of really nice gear.

Plus being a self-employed musician, it's all tax-writable.

The current Digitech Whammy IV can easily do both of those solo's, as they're both just a simple octave up bend. However, you'll need a good distortion as well for both of them. If you try to play it clean, you'll be disappointed in the tone. You'll also need an envelope filter and a delay for The Pot. You might be able to get away with not having a delay, but the filter is definitely needed to get that whale-call noise.

As for Lenny's comment, the Pitchfactor would be absurd overkill for what he wants to do here.

The only other option to a Digitech Bass Whammy or Whammy IV is the Pitchfactor. The PS-5, multi-efx, etc with the pitch shifting options all sound horrid.
