What am I missing?

Am I missing something? When I search for as an example, parts for either 4 or 5 string bass, or anything to purchase for that matter, and continually come up with items that have already been sold??? Is there a heading or search phrase that only shows items still for sale?? User error or systematic problem? Tired of wasting time. Thanks in advance for enlightening me / saving time.

Advanced search. Set status to Open Ads. I usually order by date rather than relevance (newer items are more likely to still be available).
This helps, but a seller can mark an ad sold without closing the ad.
So even filtering for open items will get you a LOT of very old ads.

Which browser are you using? I’ve noticed that the filter options are different in Firefox vs. Edge. In Edge, you can just put your search query in the filter box for “show listings containing this text” or whatever. On Firefox, that filter box is missing, and you have to use the standard search bar in the upper right side, which yields far worse results, similar to what you describe.
