What Ampeg head do you think this is?

yep, looks like a PF500 on top of an HE115 cab. I use this exact rig in a rehearsal space for one of my long term bands. Sounds good, and as long as it's one of the reliable later ver of the amp, you should be good. Keep in mind that some of the earlier versions had some issues.
My pf800 has been flawless since purchased new in 2017. But some 500's, and a smaller number of 800's had thermal temp shutdown issues. Haven't heard of any complaints in a long time though.

Fortunately it wasn't mine and I only had to use it at one venue. The rest of the shows were top flight! Yessah

Ah yes. Trying to play Bass through a Bass amp. Definitely "user error".
If it's one of the later revisions of the PF500 it'll probably be fine, (only way to know what revision it is...open it up and check what's printed on the boards.)
If it's from the first years of production those heads had a immense amount of problems. (I personally had two PF500's burn-out on me.)

I would be wary without knowing the provenance of this amp. I play through a PF500, and it's a great sounding amp, but I only got it because it came with a warranty. Even then, I always bring my BAM200 with me "just in case".
Until last week, I had a BQ500 sitting around in the event of catastrophe, but finally decided that was a waste of space.
So if you can ascertain when it was built, you can determine if you want to buy a great sounding amp that you'll always be a little leery of completely relying on.
Yep, this is the same head/cab that I use and it looks exactly like this.
One of the features of this speaker cab is that you can attach the head to the lid, which is removable with four clips along the sides, and the head can stow away inside the cab for transportation. Hard to say for sure but the way the head is placed on the top of the cabinet, it may very well be attached. If you con't want that, it's not hard to remove though.
I used to frequent a rehearsal hall where they had one of those plugged into an SVT Heritage cabinet. It was an odd sounding combination to me no matter how I adjusted the EQ. It had a very polite midrange. Much prefer that head through a grunty 2x12 or a 1x15 (or even that Mesa 2x15 Subway cabinet). I never experienced the thermal shutdown issue with it, but it's possible the rehearsal hall repaired the amp before I started using it.
