What are the best basses for direct recording?

Fender vs Ibanez = What kind of fender or Ibanez?
Active vs non active?
P vs Jazz? = This may be just a matter of choice but I want to see what people have to say.

I record direct with a Avolon U5 DI to my beringer mixer to my PC.
I have a American P deluxe active bass and I love it, but it's a bit shinny/bright. I am lookig to get a A jazz non active as my next bass or a good Ibanez btb for my direct recordings. thanks...

Depends on what music you make... I'd say either is fine, it all comes down to what would suit your music best.

Have you tried your P with flats? That'll tame the brightness. I'm not an Ibanez fan for recording.
