Well I almost had a great deal on a SR500 but missed out, so now I am considering this one on ebay. This will be my first bass. I know that these bases have different electronics but how do they compare as far as sound? This is the bass I originally wanted to get, the only thing is I don't like the color.

I have a 300DX and it's nowhere near the 500's I've tried in the store. I'd hold out for a 500, or get that SRX 500.

The 500 is definitely quite a step up. I'd hold out for one, they're definitely worth it.

  4. I had an SR500 for a while last year. Great bass for the price - I'm still convinced that you would have had to pay over $1000 for a bass of this quality 10-12 years ago. The only reason I sold it was because I bought Pedulla Thunderbass and didn't need another modern, active 2 soapbar bass.... (and as much as I liked the SR500, the Pedulla is a better bass).

I think the SRX is supposed to be more of "rock" bass....

I think I'll just wait to see what happens with the one deal, hopefully it will fall through and I can buy it. If not I'll save up for one. Thanks peeps!
