What are you using for drums?

I've used lots of things... Kitcore, Beat Buddy, EZ Drummer, a variety of drum machines... but I just pulled this out of a closet and I'm getting very excited to start creating again with it. I love the beats and sounds this box puts out. I think its one of the best of its kind.

I wish Steinberg would re-introduce their Groove Agent 2. It was so easy to select a kit, a style, a tempo/time signature, set how simple or complicated you wanted it, then trigger fills, changes etc. from a keyboard controller via midi. All the drag and drop stuff is a bit of a headache to me.

You can do all that with Strike, by AIR (quite often shows up cheap on various plugin vendors such as Plugin Boutique, Don't Crack, and Audio Plugin Deals).

I use GarageBand to add my bass track to the vocal/ukulele/drum track the leader of my group sends me. She uses a drum machine with her iMac and a Moto device. If I need drums, I use the tracks that come with GarageBand.

One more EZ drummer here. Very realistic sound and not complicate to program.

It depends on my mood.
Superior drummer, EZ drummer are quick and easy free alternatives for DAWs. if you have Logic, it has its own drum stuff to play with. If it gets more complicated than these 2 can handle I'll plug in my Roland Vdrum.

The Jupiter 8's metal case gives you a bright resonant thud while the Mellotron's wooden case has an organic whack when struck. Plastic cases like the Pro 1 and Moog Rogue are muted and subtle.
The Oberheim 4 Voice is not to even be looked at.

I just picked up Slate Trigger2 to do sample replacement on recorded tracks from my Roland kit. Wow! Outstanding plugin. Super intuitive and it tracks with no audible latency (certainly not enough for me to percieve). The sounds are good to excellent in the basic package. I'll probably spring for an expansion pack with more tom samples. It also does have an editor so it's possible to create multi-zone, round-robin samples.

Even if I had one it would be hard to find in the squalor depicted in those photos. It's actually much cleaner now.
They were always broken in the days that I was actively buying most of that stuff and now they've been scooped up, restored and priced out of my interest range.
I do have an Pearl Syncussion module which is very nice.
I do spot an original set of authentic Rickenbacker bass strings or at least the red box that they came in back in the 70s being crowded by Linn drum machines and sitting on a Commodore disk drive.
