What are your musical goals for 2021

I was in an underwhelming band when Covid hit, and I was in the market to trade up or find a second band. Even though the town I live in has a decent live music scene, everything just dried up in March. I've played with a few groups this year, but nothing has clicked yet. I am really hoping to meet and join a great group and start gigging seriously again. 20+ gigs a year, nice clubs, festivals, etc. Rowdy and appreciative audiences. Lots of hot babes into bass players. Cheers to a loud and rockin 2021 for us all!!!!

Get better at singing, and of course singing and playing.

Other goals would be improve my songwriting, composing, arranging. And collaborate with more folks.

Also last year, I made a goal of trying to purchase as little as possible (just a couple sets of strings). I wanna try to keep to that again, but I think I'll cave when the Source Audio Ultrawave is available in NZ, I already have their Kingmaker pedal, but this new one is a whole different game.

I had some lofty goals in 2020, at the onset of the pandemic. But after a while my playing became clinical, lifeless.

My goal for 2021 is to keep playing joyful. A little reading and walking, but mostly learning new songs. I'm also doing lots of singing, both with bass and acoustic guitar. Learning a little blues guitar too.

I've heard there used to be this thing, where you play tunes with other people, for other people?? That sounds groovy, I'd like to try that.

As soon as i can confirm that we still indeed have a full band, by springtime it seems sensible to hit up local venues that might have us on an outdoor stage until enough of the population has been vaccinated to play inside (which I don't anticipate happening before late fall.)

At least the guitar player and I have been getting together almost every week for the last 6+ months to keep our tunes fresh in the noggin, as well as worked out some uncertain spots, and we even came up with the bones of a couple brand news ones to introduce to the others (the good lord willing ) when we can all get back together safely.

I've definitely lost a bit of the ol spark to progress and create since the whole live music thing has been nonexistent this past year :sorry:

playing with and for real human beings again.

i realize things won't be back to the "good ol' days" anytime soon, but a few gigs (appropriately safe) could really go a long way towards keeping this old man alive and well! :D
