What bassese do ya'll recommend?

Sup all,

I am the FNG around here, lol. I currently am playing on an Ibanez BTB575FM and am looking to add another bass to my collection. I am still debating on whether or not to go to a six string maybe the SR706 or SR506, but am also thinking of going to a 4 string too. I like Ibanez, but am really not familiar with other brands. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Depends on what kinda music you play...

Who do you listen to and enjoy? Whats your budget?

You can't go wrong with an ol' fashion Fender.
I'd play a bunch of different basses and see what you like at Guitar Center or other music shops, then go on Ebay and try to find a used one - the depreciation value of most basses is insane these days.

I always ALWAYS buy USED!

Ok the style i play currently is a Tejano/conjunto with a mix of latin rock and pop. My budget is going to be no more than $800 and that is already pushing it. I have looked around at GC, but don't seem to see anything or play on anything that feels natural, or like it's that right fit. you know......

Well, take whatever you play at GC with a grain of salt - most of their basses are poorly set up and have nasty strings...although you can get a good idea of weight and feel from some of their basses.

+1 on the US Jazz bass - very versatile sounding bass and comfortable to play. Even great deals can be had on used MIJ/CIJ Fenders too - probably about close to half of what you'd spend on a US Fender.

I'm not a 6 string player though, I can't recommend anything from that family.
