Not sure whats best. Just looking to get into electric bass, I play cello now, so shouldent be too hard.
Will be using a cabinet I have on hand with a JBL 2226h and a yamaha pa amp/mixer.

Thoughts?

SX Ursa bass. P, P/J or J bass style. Best bang for the buck out there for $150.

OK, I think Ill pick it up this weekend.

Now would using a yamaha PA amp with a PA speaker with a jbl 2226h in it work for an amp?

Watch your levels and you should be fine. The 2226h goes down to 30Hz or thereabouts so it can handle anything an electric bass can throw at it frequency wise. It's transient peaks that can cause PA amps and cabs problems sometimes. So go a little easy until you see how it responds.

That said, I doubt there will be any issues.

Luck!

Now when you say issues, do you mean bad sound, or bursting into flames?

Can you beleive I got 2 PA cabs with JBL 2226h's and yamaha horn tweeters, a yamaha pa amp, and 2 50ft 1/4"cables for only $50?
Was amazing

1. You got a great deal. Anazing is a hid word for it.

2. By issues I meant bad sound. You won't damage them putting your bass through them.

Ok good.
The listing on craiglist was just for the cabs, were supposed to have yamaha woofers in them. I got their, he said the woofers had been replaced, I thought that could be bad. But I bought them anyway, and he asked if I wanted this pa amp, and cables, and 2 microphones. I took them.
Then when i got home, I opened it up to see what was inside. And I got a JBL 2226h. 2 of them total.
Now to wait for my paycheck so I can get this bass...

EDIT: NM, you can get an SR500 for $200? Do it!

I've owned three of those VM Jaguars. Still have one. I'd prefer the SR500 myself. Admittedly, I am an "Ibanez guy" so take that for what it's worth.
And looking at it from a money angle, a SR500 cost $600, a new Jaguar is $250, so a used SR500 for $200 is a better deal than a used Jaguar for $150, assuming they both work properly.
Just my two cents.

Actually the Jaguar is brand new, and the sr500 is chipped. So I'll go with the Jaguar.
