What did I buy??

Hello!!!
Forgive me in advance. I don't play bass. I bought what I was told was a bass amp on the secondary market. I told the individual that there was nothing to plug into. After a difference of opinion I bought it thinking it was a vintage speaker. It is actually a cabinet without an amp. Its a fender vintage cabinet with the fender logo underlined. As far as I can see it was made between 1968 and 1974. Where is a good source of information??? Fender tried to help but couldn't. The serial number as far as I can determine is M 18020 or M16020. I have no clue as to whether it would work if had an amp. Or if it could be used for a fender guitar that isn't a bass. Would there be no treble or midrange?
What the heck is going on??? Any ideas??

Sorry for the poor quality photo. It is too heavy for me to lift but has a handle. Don't know how you could regularly take it to gigs. Its still in my SUV.

Those pics are really blurry, but are still a huge help. I am not a serious vintage fender “spotter” myself, but I expect others on TB will be able to call out the model and approximate year. To my eyes, could be an old Bassman bass cab or a Bandmaster guitar cab from the same period.

Don't a lot of Fender cabs old and new have the Fender logo on top left not top right as in the pics shown?..or am I wrong in that belief?

The logo has clearly been moved/rotated. The Bassman cabs of the period were generally laid out horizontally with the logo on the upper left, as you say, but modern usage prefers vertical orientation and spinning the logo 90 degrees would give you what you see in the pics.

Or a 2x12. Or a copy with a blackface Fender logo slapped on. Hard to be sure with those photos. Fndrgrl, please consider cleaning the lens on your phone camera and trying again.

Are their holes where the tilt back legs might have been, how about the inserts for the knurled bolts that held the head on the cabinet?

I don’t think the older blackfaces had either of those.

It looks like a Fender Bassman twin 15" cab. That is a great cab if everything works. You will need a good head to power it. I had the Bassman 50 head with the 215 cab and it was awesome. Indoors or outdoors, it was all the amp I ever needed. Try to match it up with a Bassman head and I'm sure you will be very happy with it. Good luck.
