Well i got a new band going and i have to say it's diffrent. We have a guitarist ( he's ok ) we have another guitarist who is more experienced. A vocalist ( he is a screamer ) and a drum machine. This band is more diffrent because well me and the more experienced guitarist have way two diffrent syles of metal and when we jam and come up with riffs it's kinda hard to settle on somthing. He likes Slayer, Metallica , Iron Maiden and i like the faceless, necrophagist, suicide silence. But we both like System of a down, korn, slipknot, tool, pantera, but its just hard to settle on somthing. By the way normally the bass holds the low end keeps the song going, well this is diffrent i do most of the solos and most of the hard riffs while the guitars do chords and other things. So basically im saying im better at bass that the guitarist are on guitar which they are cool with it but its just hard to find the riffs with pretty much being the lead instrument of the band. We are kinda technical death metal and we are gonna but some grove like some slap bass and just some funky sounding riffs in there. But i just wanna know have any of you ever been the lead instrument in the band and any advice on how to settle to make riffs with two complete opposites of the same genre. I would like to go heavier and more tech, the better guitarist out of the two plays more thrash but still wants to be tech, its just a little difficult when deciding on what to put in a song. Sorry that was looooong
