Actually they are all very useful. The first one is the backtick and is used to include one computing shell command's output inside another's input. The bar thing is the pipe and is also used to string command together so one's output becomes the next's input. The other thing, the bent one, is the logical 'not', though I have never used it and don't know any program that does use it.
