What flats? Grey silk?

Anyone know what these are? Chromes?

They're definitely not D'A Chromes. That grey silk reminds me of the old Sadowsky Black Label Flats I had on my P bass about 10 yrs ago. They've since been discontinued, though. At least the older version that used to be made by La Bella.

I have a whole bunch of old strings of unknown provenance... very likely those are the old sadowsky black label flats.

They are Sadowsky Black Label. I have a set here as well. Great strings! Similar to Labellas.

IIRC, La Bella makes the strings for Sadowsky using Sadowsky criteria.

They at least used to. As far as I know, La Bella doesn't make Sadowsky strings anymore. ( I could be wrong, though.)

I tried the La Bella 760FL and the Sadowsky Black Label flats (made by La Bella then) back to back on my P back in 2014 and found the Sads to have a better midrange with clarity and articulation.

I did put them on my jazz this morning briefly. Definitely more of a mid focused sound than my 760FLs. Maybe not right for that bass, but I'm going to put them on my lakland hollowbody tonight.

I think they are... and after all these years of them having "legendary status" in my mind... I'm not into them! I'm prob going to move them along if anyone wants them or has any 760FL's for trade.

Someone out there probably thinks those strings are worth what a new set of Labellas would cost.
But I’d leave them on for a month or two and let them settle more before doing anything you can’t undo.

These are my favorite flats, maybe favorite strings period. In a mix they manage to thump and growl. So sad they were discontinued!
