Still, they hold a close core, perhaps they are viewed as a high end or special bike like owning a BMW or the like.
Except a top tier BMW costs the same as a midrange Harley

Boomer scooters.
I loved my Suzuki GSXR750 when I still rode. I rode my buddies BMW gs1500 and fell in love. It's sadly out of my budget range these days but it was a superior ride.
That being said if I buy another motorcycle it will only be a Indian bagger. I've always wanted one and yeah, it's the image and tradition of it.
Doesn't go fast?
You really don't know anything about Harleys.
My Full dressed Roadglide makes 168 HP & 189 lbs tq.
My Pro street FXDSI makes 185 HP & 160 lbs tq.
124ci fuel injected, Olins fork with Brembo radial brakes.
.
The noise is a defense mechanism. It's actually a good way to keep from being merged on top of ( well, it HELPS.. but dumb people still drive our roads... ) I've no problem with loud motorcycles. Not to be a big downer but my brother was killed by a motorist who "didn't see him". If the noise helps save a life. It's all good in my book.
110,000 HARD miles on my Roadglide. I have one customer that has 135,000 on his 2003 Classic.
The Japanese bikes will run a long time with proper maintenance, but most do not get it.
European bikes have no life, cool bikes but built bad and no parts support.
And what did it have stock? How much did you have to spend to get it to perform like that?
Please explain the thousands of BMW motorcycles still on the road. BMW also still supplies parts for many of them. There are many many BMW riders with vintage machines that have lasted several hundred thousand miles with regular maintenance. Moto Guzzi has thousands of vintage bikes on the road as well.
Not much.
But that is like asking custom bass builder how much HIS bass costs.
The point is, it can be done reliably.
Can you almost triple the power of any other bike and still have it reliable?
See post #50
Moto Guzzi? Give me a break LOL
What's wrong with Guzzi? Tons of Guzzi Eldorados and Ambassadors still on the road, as well as early Le Mans models.
Tons? more like ounces
They didn't sell tons of them in the US.
Oh, and TRY to get parts for them.
Parts is the only beef I have with BMW.
Having to miss over half the riding season here waiting for one part under warranty is unacceptable with ANY brand.
Which part and what model?

What rubbish, I have not denigrated anyone, all I have done is explore the reasons for the popularity of Harleys, how is that making fun .
Why such a defensive post ?
I think its cool that such a huge group of people around the world can be so passionate about a company that has refused to conform to modern idealism and stuck to its core beliefs and is still successful in this day and age .
That is such a stupid comment, as if you are superior, everybody has the right to expand their knowledge and learn from others
