What is the real difference...

What is the real difference between a darkglass/demonfx harmonic booster vs a regular EQ pedal? What advantage would I gain with a harmonic booster? Is there something I'm missing?

I'm not trashing on harmonic boosters either. In fact, I'm considering obtaining one sometime soon

The harmonic booster is pre-voiced to the DG tone profile. If you like the way their pedals are EQed, you'll like this as an overall EQ pedal. If you don't like that sound, another EQ pedal would suit you better.
With the right parameters, you can get the same sounds out of both, but it's a question of if that is the sound you want and if the other EW pedal has the frequencies notched in for that particular frequency band.

That was DG first pedal and I believe it is basically just a clean preamp with mids emphasis. I think it would be used in conjunction with the regular DG drive pedals. Then they started making their larger pedals and Ultras with a preamp on board, so if you have something like that, don’t know if it would be of any benefit.

Oh okay, do you guys know if the demonfx captures this same sound and EQ profile? Or does it have its own? I been finding most of these clones tend to have their own sound. Usually similar, but without the high mids profile
