Hello,
I am hoping to get some help as I just recently picked up a beautiful Fender Precious Plus from Guitar Center. Unfortunately, after thorough review I found this crack coming from above the truss rod stripe on back of the neck. Is this just a cosmetic crack or further cause for concern?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Probably just cosmetic. Doesn't look to be very deep at all, like the wood got too dried out. But it could have also been caused by someone over tightening the truss rod, but I would expect the crack to be worse than that. Anytime you see a crack on either end of the neck near where the truss rod ends are, always test the truss rod out. Of course you should do that anyway when buying a bass, especially if it's used.
Have you tried adjusting the truss rod any to make sure it works? If not, do so immediately.
If the truss rod is in working condition and you bought the bass used, fill the crack with some thin CA and rock on!
If the truss rod is in working condition and you bought the bass new, you got to decide do you take it back or do you love the way it plays enough to hang on to it.
If you hang on to it just realize that overtime, especially with truss rod adjustments every now and then, the crack could get worse. But if everything is in working order that bass should be good to go for decades, crack and all.
If the truss rod isn't working, then obviously, used or new, you want to take it back.
