What is up with people on CL?

I have a pair of sneakers I wore twice to church. Upgraded with Nike laces and Dr. Scholls gell pads. Paid $75, yours with upgrades for $90.

Those are God's shoes now boy, and should fetch at least double what you're asking for on the bay.

What gets me is the people who try to scam you NON STOP! I have a 5 string Kubicki Key Factor for sale on craigslist and I have about a dozen emails from people telling me they are "very interest in my beautiful musical instrument"...or something along those lines. It's SO weird that they always want to write a check for more than what I'm selling my bass for. Anybody else have this problem?

Yeah, but usually what I get is that they are "very interest in my item", without distinguishing even so much as "musical instrument".

Lots of people that post for sale ads on CL have done so for the first time or never sold any gear before and don't know what they're selling is worth and also don't bother to do any investigation. It works both ways, there's overpriced stuff and then there's underpriced stuff.

In NYC there were tons of ads for slightly used Nokia E71's for $350 or more even though you could buy one from newegg.com for $299, free shipping and a free motorola blue tooth headset. Go figure.

Wait... the electronics were HAND-WIRED?

I thought robots were doing that... oh yes, Japanese ladies with their expert fingers. Same difference.

I dealt with a dude who wanted $120 for a beaten down Jay Turser Stingray, I was offering $60, and he got pissed.

Oh and yeah, it was his asking price originally, agreed upon via email, when I showed up he saw my Volvo parked in front so he guessed I probably was rich or something (it's a 2002 for crying out loud).
