What is your Irrational Bass Pet Peeve?

Completely irrational pet peeve of mine: I hate rosewood fingerboards. Not the sound mind you, that would be rationalish. Just the look. To me they look cheap to me compared with maple or ebony, even though I know there is nothing wrong with rosewood.

2 : People who advertise their Basses and claim it " plays like buttah "
3 : Having to swap out strings on a new ( or second hand ) bass immediately because either they are dead or guage is too heavy
4 : Crackly input jacks or pots
5 : Rattly A string at the nut on J Basses
6 : Seized Truss rod nuts, saddle screws or pickup screws
7 : Unshielded basses that buzz like crazy

I don't like a bass with more than 4 strings.... or less. If its not a Fender, Gibson, Guild or Rickenbacker... it takes me a while to be wooed by the bassist.

I hate anything to do with an oval shape on a bass. C'mon man, it isn't a frickin Easter egg! This means Lakland bridges and Ray-family pickguards are out of the question. I even asked Lakland if they would ever make a bass with a rectangular bridge and they did not receive the question very well.

I don't think those would count as "irrational".

* Ampeg anything-- absolutely no rational reason for it, just a band-wagon I won't jump on.

* Flatwound strings-- I get literally pissed off when someone asks about strings, sometimes not even asking about strings but maybe mentions a P and someone HAS to say "Yeah, put flatwounds on it".

* Those damn Dunlop Super Brights-- and that one dude who pushes them so hard yet they have all these problems. I expect that to fade just like other fad strings that were all the rage for a while.

Umm... that's a hard question to answer. I have pet peeves, but I really don't think they're irrational (like how many companies don't make lefty basses, for example), or things that are irrational, but don't qualify as a peeve - pet one or not. Like my dislike for tort, or the color red. But, an irrational pet peeve? Don't think I have any. And, now I feel somehow diminished... Guess I'll have to try to think one up...

I really hate to answer this but I'm going to do it anyway... I only like Fender American made basses. Can't bring myself to buy anything else. I only look at NBD threads that have Fender in the title. I had a very nice Squier VM long scale Jaguar bass but traded it, and the real reason I sold it was because it didn't have Fender on the headstock. Up till now I've been trying to convince myself that I traded that bass because I didn't like its sound but that's not the truth. The Squier logo bothered me.

I did the budget version...

I have a MIM Fender I had to put a Squier neck on, and a Squier...

I removed the headstock decals and they're just blank.
