what kind of pickup?

I just got this Peavey Foundation bass with Peavey Super Ferrite pickups and they are wider than my guitar humbuckers.
Are they single coils?

thanks for the response - I found the info from another forum. I'm building a bass and wanted to use single coils for it but would prefer a better tone - maybe by not using 500k pots like Peavey uses?

I'd recommend using Nordstrand Big Singles, with probably 250K pots.

nordstrand uses alnico5 (2,8?) rods on their pickups, so the sound would be completely different than the peavey (which probably use magnets underneath pole pieces).

I found that the biggest problem with the Superferrite pickups was actually the capacitors Peavey used. I put in a .1 cap like vintage p-basses in one of my Foundations, and a .087 in another. Allows me to roll off a significant amount of treble making the bass much more useful. By the way, if you do replace the superferrites and want to get rid of them pm me.
