What kind of strings do you use?

Does anyone use lightweight gauged strings for fingering or picking?

I don't slap and pop but I do like a bright and sharp sound from time to time. What are the positives and negatives here?

My preferred strings are Rotosound Swing 66, and as Arpeggiator said, I use them on my Cort Artisan B4. Right now, though, I've had a string breaking problem (if you've seen my thread you know this already), so my bass has a mix of three different brands: the E and D strings are Ernie Ball, the A is a GHS, and the G is a DR. The GHS and it's red top make my bass look really odd but sweet

I just tried some Fender Roundwounds on my Yamaha RBX, and that sounded pretty sweet. But I'm still sticking with S.I.T Hex-wounds.

Just switched from Rotosound 66 to Sadowsky Blue Label Rounds on my Marcus Miller. That will be my brand from now on. Gonna try the Chomes on my BTB.....

Damn those Blue Labels are some great strings!!!!!

D'Addario 6-string light gauge Prosteels are what i like to hear. they're bright, they last super long, and they're light- enough gauge to play funk, but heavy enough for rock styles as well.

How is the B on the Fender V. I think mine feels a bit flabby. I assume I need a higher tension string.

It's not as bad as many have said about Fender Vs, but I play way back at the bridge most of the time. I didn't really consider the tension when I bought the strings; I'm just a big fan of R. Cocco. I suppose it might not be a bad idea for the folks who have floppy Bs to find higher tension strings, though.

I don't really notice any appreciable tension difference between my Fender and the Ibby. Actually, I wish I would just hate one of them so I could decide which to sell. I'm about 3 weeks into an extended test-drive of both. No clear winner yet!
