What Pick ups would YOU put in this baby?

Here's my new American series Jazz. I'm thinking Lindy Fralin's. The stocks sound good but I'm sure the Fralins would be nicer.

Emg's, but I am biased, I would put emg's on my tailpipe if it wasn't so loud already. And yes you CAN do that. Sounds crazy, reaaallllyy loud.

I wouldn't replace the pickups unless you've tried different strings and EQ settings to get the tone you're seeking. What is that tone, exactly?

I'd grab you some Villex linear humbuckers. Don't get the single coils (they can be noisy). You can then replace your volume knob with a concentric (stacked) volume, leave your tone knob, and use Villex's proprietary mid control for tons of tone shaping. And all that passive with no routing...

To clarify, his single coils are no noisier than any others, in fact they are probably quieter. But if you get linear humbuckers you'll never have to worry if you're in a place that has bad grounding or something you can't control--it will be as quiet as can be.

I have a chrome red Am. Ser. Jazz myself, and like you I thought the stock pickups were good. But eventually I wanted to go noiseless, so I bought Lindy Fralin's Split Jazz linear humbuckers. They're expensive, but an excellent upgrade. They add some clarity in the highs, and serious growl in the lows. Overall they sound more "alive" to me than the stock Fenders. Unless you want to go noiseless though, I'm not sure an expensive upgrade is worth it.
