What should I do with my Fortress?

As you see, there are lots of pickup choices - and one of these may give you what you're looking for.

You should also look at preamps too.

I have a Warwick Streamer - and it has a Bartolini preamp in it. This may not be the absolute best choice, but I can tell you that it sounds much better than the MEC preamp that came in the bass.

I recently put a Nordstrand pickup in my Rickenbacker bass and the results were phenomenal. Based on how much I like this pickup, I'd also check out their P bass-style pickups for my other Warwick (you can see its picture in my avatar).

I have a Fortress that I just recently set up BEAD with TI flats. What I want to do next, and what you might also like, is setting it up with a traditional passive control setup: Volume Volume Tone. Maybe figure a way to fill the 4th hole with a stacked active bass/treble that can switch in and out.

On my cheap PJ bass the passive tone control is my best friend.

Yes the Duncan 1/4 pounder is a hot, aggressive pickup!
Like some of the others I would recommend Bartolinis.

Haha, definitely overwhelmed. I decided I'm going to stick to what's available at my local dealer, so I can actually check it. This means all the more 'fancy' US options (Bill Lawrence, Wilde, Rio) are a no go. I've already checked, and the Geezer, the Dimarzio model P, the Fender, are all available here.

Now I'm also kinda doubting if I should even invest in a new J pickup, or just leave that stock and focus on the P. Choices... ;)

So I've narrowed my selection down to the last two contenders:

- Model P/J set
- Geezer P/J set

Although I will not base my decision on looks, I do love the Dimarzios' creme colour option. But the Geezers have been getting the most praise in this particular thread. And then there's @Bob Growler 's post, who has the same bass, and a Zappa quote in his signature to boot! I think the choice is nigh..

I just learned that the Geezers come with this 'no solder' wiring set that has its own pots. As I'm not that technically proficient, and the Warwicks' wiring is also not standard whatsoever, that could turn out to be a problem. The choice is less nigh..
