Hey, Ive got a takamine acoustice bass, i think its an older egb2s model or something. Im not to happy with the sound, its pretty quiet and i think i could get better tone from a semi acoustic. What would be sone resonable trade ideas, or similarlly priced basses i might be able to trqde for (new or used)

What's your playing situation? Are you mostly playing alone at home? or playing with others unplugged? No acoustic bass is going to be loud enough to be useful without amilification. What don't you like about how it sounds? Is it strung with phosphor bronze strings? Tapewounds work very well on an acoustic.

I play in a band and id like something i could get a big beefy tone out of (jack bruce or hack casady). The acoustic just sounda hollow and lifeless, it does have a preamp where i can plug it in and use it as an electric whi h is neat, but i figure if im doing that i should jusy get semi acoustic or something. Ive already got a J and P and a looking for a thumpy humbucker tone i gurss

The Epi Jack Casady is a great bass. You can get a used Hofner Icon for 2-300 bucks. A Gibson SG is solid but very light. When you say semi acoustic, do you mean you want something that can be played unplugged? Any unplugged acoustic guitar is going to make any acoustic unplugged bass inaudible. A hollowbody like the Hofner and Jack Casady has to be plugged in.

Yeah something like the jack casady, it like to have something semi acoustic just so i could play alone while camping or something
