What should I look for in a good amp? (funk)

Hello fellows,

I've made a decision, I'm going to buy a new amp.

At the moment I am looking for a good amp. It should have 300+ watts and it should fit for funk music. I like to get this groovy, funky sound. I also like slapping alot.

Now, if I were to buy such an amp, what would I be looking for? Built in compressors, are they needed? BandEQ's? etc.

Ofcourse, we need a cab too. Same question here. Should I be looking for 2x10" and tweet? A 12"+10" with tweet, etc.

Also, I'd prefer buying a relatively cheap ones (600-800 € in total) so I still have some money left. It still has to be good enough to last for a few years, and I'll prob do rehearsels and small gigs with it.

Anyways, fire your ideas and advices at me, don't hold back :).

P.S.: what does a DI out? Does it go to a DI device so I can record with my pc, or does it go straight into the pc?

Greetz,
