What size strap?

I've been using a 3 1/2" soft leather strap that feels pretty good, but I busted out an old vintage style 1" strap with sliding pad thing and found it was close in terms of comfort.

What size strap do you use, and why? Extra credit for preferred materials, etc. Safe and Happy New Year, everyone!

i use a 2" DiMarzio cliplock nylon strap, this things RAWK!!
they have come with there own cliplock system that is full proof and easy to use no little tiny "buttons" to push or pull, or little sliders to work into....check them out, well worth it! oh, and very comfortable.

I am assuming you're talking about strap width.

3 1/2". I am not sure what the material is (neoprene + padding?), but it's a Comfort Strapp.

4" leather from italia straps, its incredibly nice, i have no clue why people knock them. only gripe is the leather is SO nice and SO thick that i cant use my dunlops on it... i havent had a problem yet, so im not too worried about it.

I voted for 4". I've been using a 4" Moody exclusively for a year. Very, very soft leather but durable. They offer them with a suede backing (if you don't like your strap to slide) and with a leather backing.....I opted for leather.

3.5" is what I have and voted for, but would gladly trade it in for a 4".

I use a really thin Planet Waves strap- not very wide. I don't really have any back issues or pain from the strap, so I don't see the need to buy a more expensive one.

Anywhere from three to four inches is good for me. I'm sort of growing away from leather straps also. I would love one of those wide Lakland ones that you see on Bob Babbit's basses...anyone know where to get one? (sorry for hi-jacking)

I use a 3 1/2" leather strap by Clayton because it's thick and soft enough for comfort, but not too expensive (less than $30). If I played gigs all the time I might invest in a nicer strap, but for practicing and informal jams, this one works fine for me.

I use a 2.5" Gibson lightning bolt strap that was handed down to me in the days of my guitar playing. I've been meaning to replace it for a long time because the strap holes are widening and my bass fell out a few times Luckily I caught it

During one of my band practices, I was putting on my bass and the strap slipped off and the headstock hit me in the head. Let's just say my head hurt for the rest of the day.

Only ones I've used for like the last five years or so.

With that strap and this Parker Fly Bass, heck, it feels like I don't even have a bass on at times!!
