chromatic fantasy get's me into a sweat if i attempt to play it as fast as i can, which is still slower than Jaco's version. otherwise see above, cramps are a sign of poor technique.

I never really get cramp in my left hand, but did in SLeep Now in the Fire - RATM, was more a lack of practise and playing more than anything.

And lately, I have been getting it in, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch. Must be the repetitive thing. but its not even like there are big stretches. I really think it is slack technnique when playing that...

Tom Sawyer, the part played under the guitar solo. It's the only song I play that has my hand all tied up in knots by the end (of that part). I've tried different, supposedly easier fingerings but the only way I can get it clean is to do it the hard, painful way.

Anything with constant octave jumps. Miss You by the Rolling Stones does it. Especially if I play it the way our guitar player thinks it's supposed to go. He thinks the octaves are constant. That song is actually a little trickier to get the "vibe" that it seems. Bill gets my vote and an under rated player.

IMHO, your technique is flawed if you're getting cramps.... Strength is hardly necessary.

Playing bass should be like petting a sleeping cat.... you can dig in a bit if you want, but it's really not necessary to play any harder than that. If you need more volume, turn up your amp.

He did specify the left hand, assuming he means the fretting hand. My right hand rarely ever gets cramps. I do dig in too much, I need to work on that.

its ok on its own but we have a tendancy to play it at the end of a set so i have to play for an hour then an extra 13 min if we do it as an encore n that hurts!
