what speaker cab would you recommend?

I'm new to talk bass so this is the first of what I'm sure will be many questions.

I've just bought a new set-up - fender jazz bass deluxe qmt - glokenklang soul head. But my speaker cab is rubbish! so I'm wanting to buy a new one. If you could suggest any speaker cabs which you have found to be good or any brands which are worth looking at, that would be great.

The glockenklang head can cope with up to 4ohms and puts out 440watts so I would need a speaker which would use and can handle the full power of the head.

What size should I get as well? (I was thinking 4x10)

My budget is around £500 but can be stretched to a bit more if need be.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Watts don't matter, driver displacement does. Knowing that does you little good, as no manufacturer reveals the displacement of their cabs. But of all the manufacturers out there one that I do trust to give honest specs is Barefaced, and since both they and you are UK based that's one to look into. You'll note that Barefaced does not offer a 410, because it is a flawed design. Why, and what should work best for you, is well explained on the Barefaced site.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, had a look on the barefaced website and their speakers look pretty nifty so their a big contender for the cab I'm going to get.

Haha, I like how you clarified you were joking about the black paint just in case I was stupid enough to do it :P
