Didn't think I would ever have to ask this question, but... I've done my due diligence re the Search function, and... I'm stumped.
I have a headless Kramer "The Duke". It most definitely uses short scale strings. They aren't by any means original (bass was made in '82), but they are a few years old. Don't have a picture of them -sorry - but:
- Short scale;
- Roundwounds; and pretty rough ones, too;
- Feel like nickel/nickel-plated ones, to me;
- Bright yellow silk wrap at tuner end only;
- Plain brass ball ends.
The only strings I've been able to find any mention of with yellow silk, are either flatwounds, or (apparently) long scale only (MTDs and Fender 7150s). Considering their age, they don't sound bad - although I prefer flats - but, it would really be nice to know what they are. Any thoughts?:thumbsup:

Yeah, the 7150s, but... no mention of them being available as short scale, though... I might consider buying a set if they were. Like I said, the old ones don't sound bad at all. The goofy "Twin J" pickup in the Duke is amazingly versatile, and rounds would probably suit it better than flats...:)

Thanks. Hadn't considered those, since the long scale Boomers have dark red silk... that's what I get for assuming.:rolleyes: I was noodling around with the Duke this morning - I'd forgotten what a monster the little thing is, with the strings it has. If these strings are Boomers, for darned sure that's what'll stay on it...:)
