What to do with bass with sprung neck

A couple years ago I made an online purchase of a 5-string Warwick rockbass streamer standard. I dabbled with the bass 50 years ago and took up again. I got a nice Schecter 4-string. Wanted to try a 5-string. Was odd to play and just put the 5 string aside. I got it checked out and learned it had a bad neck. Cost to repair is apparently about what I paid for it. I was wondering what people do with these. Sell body for parts?

I presume that by "sprung" you mean that the neck is bowed or twisted. That can almost always be fixed by rebuilding the existing neck. But it takes some skill and labor, or costs some money if you have a pro do it. Rebuilding a Warwick neck is about $600. A whole new custom replacement neck from a Luthier is maybe $800. I've done several in the past, although I'm now retired from repair work. My buddy Jeremy just made up a replacement Warwick neck here last week. There are plenty of Luthiers around who are capable of rebuilding necks or making replacements.

I suggest that you list it here on the TB Classifieds, being honest about what the problem is. See what people will offer you. They may want it for parts, or may be willing to pay a pro, or want to do the repair themselves. Here on TB, you are more likely to find someone who wants it for a project, and understands what is involved.

I think sprung means it will not stay put at all. You adjust and the next day its way out of whack again, and it can be forward or back.
I had one like that before.
