I just won and paid for an EMG BTC system preamp, but (stupid me) I just read that they are only compatible with EMG pups. I have Barts in the bass the pre is going in. I also read that the BTC control itself can be used with passive pups, so here's my question:
Should I disassemble the system (volume and blend) and use only the BTC control, or should I just sell the pre and get something else?

You can get EMG preamps to work with other pickups, I hear it's just a challenge. Personally, I would sell it and buy something else.

I have no idea if just removing the pots is all there is to making the BTC System into a BTC Control. You probably need to email EMG. That being said, I currently run a Bart MMC to an EMG Control and it works great.
