What to do?

Well I just got my MIA deluxe jazz with QMT from musicians friend. I got it blemished and on clearence so it was a deal but this thing is nothing but trouble. First the stack knob was badly bent and basically stuck. I took it to my nearest fender dealer and the guy told me all he could do was to bend it back. Since then the so called noiseless pickups are really noisey. On top of the electronics, I cant get the action I want. I have the neck straight and the saddles really low but it still feels high. Anyway I know this is too long sooooo.........

Im returning it yes. I cant get another one like it because it is discontinued. Should I give Fender another chance or go with a stingray HH. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:crying:

first off...your Fender dealer is a dweeb!

if a pot is bent, bending it back can cause all kinds of problems...the solution to fixing a bent pot is nothing short of REPLACEMENT.

the action issue could probably be solved with a simple shim in the neck...but you'll have to make the call as to how confident you are that you could make this bass a player....

if you got a smokin' deal on the bass, then it may well be worth a shot....

if you didn't, send it back...

Thanks for the reply. I agree and understand what your saying. The was good but not great. I have also noticed that a similar bass to this is the Victor Bailey model. Same preamp and all. I just feel a little betrayed by fender because every fender I have owned has been superb.

...and I'll bet you find another one again that's "superb". Sounds like you took a chance on a "blemished", (or scratch 'n sniff as my family calls them), and when you takes your chances you gets what you gets. could be salvageable, but turn it back in. Don't be afraid to check out another fender, though. Every company has a few "bad apples" and this shouldn't turn you off on the entire line; especially if you've had good vibes with them in the past. Good luck!
