What to do?

In a moment of genius, I fitted a single coil Quarter Pounder to my Thunderbird. However, I'm now left with a rather unsightly area of open rout.

What would you guys do to fill/cover it?

This opens up a can of worms in that you'd likely end up changing out all the hardware - I used the same S.D. '51 P singlecoils in my Fenderbird, I potted them into some N.O.S. '76 Thunderbird pickup covers that I got on ebay. They may no longer be available but you might try contacting Muke Lull as they may sell their two screw cover as a separate part - just bring money, they won't be cheap!

Nope, it's glued together, This was my first thought, but not one that'll work.

2007 Epi IV. I haven't had a chance to play it through a bass amp yet (my Marshall combo is kaputt and my Marshall stack is a band room 20KM away) but it sounded fine for a bass played through a guitar amp when I played it through a guitar amp!

That would most likely be the best solution, but I'm kinda strapped for cash (having bought the SCPB-3 in the first place...). Would it be worth it trying to remove the cover form the original pickup?

You could route out a wood surround for it and just cover the hole with it. Wouldn't look at all like stock, but there wouldn't be a gaping hole in the front of the bass either.
