No no no and a million times no.
The G&L L2000 does not sound anything like a Stingray. It sounds lovely, but it does NOT do a Stingray sound. Oh no. Not at all, Sir.
It does, however, a great... L2000 sound, and a bodybuilder P-bass territory type od sound that's not a P-bass either, yet a lot closer to a P-bass than the most Stingray-like tone it can produce is close to a Stingray.
I replaced both my Stingray and Sterling with an L2000 and never looked back. The L2000 sounds so much better just passive (I don't use the preamp) than either do with their preamps and I can actually hear the G string on the L2000.
