what's a good website to get strings?

Been a regular customer on eBay bass specialist in past, but current day they no longer provide nice price and increase shipping cost.

Strings By Mail. Fast delivery and you will not find better customer service! I ordered a set of Chromes. Discovered that the E and G strings sounded a bit dull. E-mailed them explaining my situation. 3 days later I received brand, spanking new E and G Chromes... no charge!

+1 on FretNation and StringsByMail. I've used and loved both.

If you're a GHS user, I'd recommend StringsByMail a little higher because both companies are Michican-based, meaning GHS strings are a smidge less expensive at StringsByMail than some of the other outlets.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the item is a counterfeit.

I got what I thought were counterfeit Blue Steel strings from Amazon. Turns out they weren't; turns out that Markley had kind of quietly gone under without telling anyone and was shoving whatever crap they could get their hands on into the cheapest packaging they could have made. So in a sense I did get counterfeit strings from Amazon, but that wasn't on Amazon but rather on Markley.

I buy Rotosounds and DR strings from Amazon with no worries. I know what that stuff is supposed to look like without opening the box. No issues there.

I have gotten counterfeit items from Amazon, all clothing. It's going to really hurt them in the long haul if they don't get a handle on that.

I usually get my bass strings from Sweetwater or locally, but for all strings in general, Strings by Mail is awesome!

I'd say Stringjoy is great. But they don't make flats so that excludes 4% of bassists and 90% of TB members. But if you play rounds Stringjoy is fantastic to deal with.
I get my guitar and some bass strings there and I get my flats from the Amazon guy that calls them "accordion accessory" because it's hard to find a deal on TI.

I do plenty of business with Amazon, but I personally received counterfeit D'Addario acoustic guitar strings. My money was quickly refunded, but since I don't use anything exotic I just buy locally now.

My original preference for Amazon was pure convenience, click, card is on file, price is good, strings on my doorstep in a day or two.

I try to buy from Fretnation when they have what I want in stock. If not then ir is strings by mail or talkbass store. I hase purchased from all of these places and never had any Issues.

Fret Nation has been pretty unresponsive to me in the past. They also didn't inform me of a backorder. I just use sweetwater or shop locally.

When I can, I buy locally from a particular locally-owned store that my family was connected to, but that group of 4 store was just sold to an investment group, so that option is up in the air.

I also buy from FretNation and in spite of a few conmentors, I've had nothing but exemplary service and prices from them.
