so much so that having something that works but doesn't look all that good is a punishable offense?
It's really not just as simple as A o r B, this or that.
Age advances and people value artistic designs.

)As much as I'd like to agree with you, you have to realize they are doing that to their neons because you can't get any power out of them lol. It's about the art. Now, when they make the car loud as all getout, THEN they are posers. Until then, it's about art and not power.
::EDIT:: Oh, and I say function. Art has a function and that is to be aesthetically pleasing. Muscle cars have a function and that is to GOFAST!

I have to agree with the part about the primer grey color.....
Without function you can't do anything. Without form (in the meaning nice design) you can get along well but it might not make you happy...
Right. If something looks good, you mostly think it works too, so it's definitely worth trying out once or twice before abandoning it for the lack of functionality...

As a recovering commercial/industrial designer, the idea form follows function is dead. The stupidity in basic, functional, design I see on a daily basis is just plain frightening. For example, I purchased a Gator rack a few months back. Big company, decent rep. The handles do not allow enough space for a human hand, and the covers have finger hinges ON THE BOTTOM lip with the catches on the case where they rattle/vibrate during use. Another fringe benefit of this design is that when you grab both catches and twist them open, the cover clatters off to the floor.
Not only was this box apparently designed by monkeys, they got them monkies stone cold wasted first. The sad thing is, none of these issues would have cost more to have designed correctly. The fact it made it to production like this is just depressing in almost every way. The new clock radio I got has smooth cone shaped knobs that defy grabbing without holding the unit down with your other hand. Yes that's right. You need two hands to change the volume. Square/cylindrical knobs would have solved this issue at ZERO cost in production. I don't think the people responsible for such reprehensibly lousy work making it to the public should be fired, I think they should be shot. Or at the very least, stoned unconscious with the offending objects.

I'd rather do than watch. With the lights off, function becomes a LOT more important than form. Form, of course, adds to the enjoyment of the function, but form without function is called "art" (or "p**n"
).
