"What's Going On" Bass Line

This one has been incredibly hard for me to get the groove right. Please give me some tips from when you guys were learning it. Here's a recording of me playing it...

You need to drink a pint of Tequila...smoke a joint...then lay out flat on your back before attempting this bassline. That's how Jamerson did it .
