whats going on

hi all i have been playing fingerstyle for a number of yrs now but the last 3 years i been learning slap style just for fun..my bass is a am pro jazz bass (the one in my pic) and even though my slapping is not too bad.. now and then my popping finger sometimes gets caught under my g string throwing me of my rhythm... but for xmas i got a fender player p bass ... and i can slap with no problems on this everything is so nice the feel no catching the g string when popping i find it a lot easier.. both my basses are set up the same .. string height.. etc .. my only conclusion is i suit a p basses larger neck... but i do prefer the jazz bass sound when slapping... do any of you have this problem?... thnx in advance .. tony
