Whats pedals do i need

stle of music- muse, rage against the machine, audioslave, nirvanna, rap music beats, rhcp.

what pedals should i get? Like what are some defualt starting pedals i need to cover these bands basically

pedal i have already is Boss odb-3. i thought about getting a big muff but my odb can sound like one even tho it says over drive.
anyone explain that to me?

In my humble opinion and limited experience, I've had similar findings. You can push a overdrive pedal to get some fuzz like tones, and i feel like they cut through the mix better than most fuzz's. Thats my findings at least between my wonderful Sansamp VT Bass and my former EHX Big Muff Pi

There are comprehensive threads on timmay c and chris wotshisface's pedalboards. Give them a search and they should help you, they're very popular topics. As for overdrive and fuzz, think of them as two intensities of the same thing. Both add gain and clipping to your tone and there's a crossover between the two, a heavy od can sound fuzzy and a light fuzz can sound like an overdrive when the gain is low, or you roll the volume back on your bass. There are more threads on dirt pedals than anything else on here!

Welcome.

The first thing IMO is a compressor, specially to play rhcp, and then the TECH 21 BASS DRIVER D.I. PROGRAMMABLE would be interesting, because yo can save presets -and that's great to play RATM.

Hope it helps!

um sorry im a effects noob. would the compressor also help my muse playing. For instance make playing time is running out a little more stable sounding(the wording is bad but i dont know how to word it)

also ive heard alot about the tech bass drive. are they really worth the money or is they a cheaper substitute that gets it close?

Possibly a wah or an overdrive ( the OBD-3 is pretty much a fuzz). In reality though, if you don't know what sounds you want already, buying pedals is not really a good idea.

Listen to the bass in songs you like, and if you hear an effect you really like, that is when you buy a pedal to try and get that sound.
